Elevator trim slipping

I'm currently flying a '78 7GCBC. I find that the elevator trim progressively becomes loose over time to the extent that the trim knob has to be held to keep pressure off the stick when in straight and level flight.

Is there a way to do in-flight friction nut adjustment? A modification of some sort. Is this a common problem?
